Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 (dependant on experience)

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Location: Newcastle Office, (Regent Centre, Gosforth, Newcastle, NE3 3LZ) with travel to our services across Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside & South Tyneside.

Requirements: A valid driving licence and access to a car with the ability to travel between services in Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside & South Tyneside.

LIFE by Be Caring is seeking to recruit a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our Learning Disabilities team as an Engagement & Activities Coordinator working within our Supported Living Services across Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside and South Tyneside.

The purpose of this role is to provide engagement co-ordination of all communication and activities to support the future development of the LIFE service.

Job Description

Role Objective

To provide engagement co-ordination of all communication and activities to support the future development of the Life Service.

Accountability

The post holder is accountable to the and will report to our Operations Manage for Life.

Key Responsibilities:

The main duties of this role will include:

  • Co-ordination and administration support for projects focusing on Communications and Engagement for Life services across Newcastle, Gateshead, North Tyneside, and South Tyneside. Examples include:
    • Event management, including engagement and activities for the people we support and our colleagues.
    • Recruitment initiatives using social media, printed publications, and outdoor spaces, involving clients wherever possible.
    • Colleague engagement and surveys.
    • Communications planning with the central Communications Team, to effectively promote campaigns to the LIFE department.
    • Crafting, editing, or reviewing news stories and other content and supporting with publication to relevant audiences via appropriate communication channels.
    • Website content production such as case studies and news stories.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and execute a diverse range of activities and events tailored to the interests and abilities of the target audience, ensuring inclusivity and engagement.
    • Coordinate logistics for events and activities, including venue booking, transportation, and equipment setup, to ensure smooth execution.
    • Develop and manage the budget for activities and events, including negotiating with vendors and tracking expenses to stay within financial constraints.
    • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers or staff members who assist in the execution of activities, ensuring they are well-prepared and motivated.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events through participant feedback and attendance records, using this data to make improvements.
    • Foster partnerships with local businesses, organisations, and community groups to enhance the variety and appeal of activities offered.
    • Create promotional materials and utilise various platforms, including social media, to advertise events and activities to maximise participation.
    • Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during activities or events, ensuring participant safety and satisfaction.
  • Task management, ensuring regular and reactive tasks are conducted to highest standard and agreed deadlines. Such examples include:
    • Providing update reports for local services on engagement and communications projects.
    • Weekly and ad-hoc communications and news.
    • Managing and updating contact lists/groups.
  • Analysing and presenting information in various formats such as spreadsheets, charts, presentations, and written reports.
  • Ensuring processes are followed and information is recorded and documented as appropriate.

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Initiative-taking approach to problem solving and ability to work under pressure and own initiative.
  • Experience in developing professional relationships with others.
  • Ability to extract, collate and present data.
  • IT literate with strong MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and social media or marketing skills.
