About Be Caring

Be Caring is the UK's largest employee-owned social care provider - a not-for-profit organisation where colleagues are co-owners, working together to make a difference in people's lives and communities.

Our LIFE by Be Caring team supports adults with learning disabilities, autism, and mental health needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. Whether through supported living or community outreach, we empower people to make choices, build skills, and achieve their goals - creating a genuine sense of belonging.

We're proud to have been recognised nationally, winning awards for Leadership Culture, Excellence in Homecare, and Excellence in Supported Living.

Now, we're looking for a passionate and values-driven Registered Manager to lead our LIFE service and continue delivering outstanding, person-centred support.

About the Role

This is a leadership role that moves beyond day-to-day delivery into oversight, influence and partnership working. You’ll lead LIFE by Be Caring across Newcastle, Gateshead and North Tyneside, ensuring the people we support live safely, happily, and with dignity.

You’ll shape service quality, culture, and outcomes — embedding our values into everything you do:

Be Kind. Be Involved. Be the Best You Can Be. Be Happy. Be Safe. Be Proud.

You’ll also represent Be Caring across the local system, building strong working relationships with commissioners and professionals to ensure people experience joined-up, high-quality support.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, inspire and develop teams across multiple services to deliver outstanding, person-centred support
  • Build an inclusive culture rooted in openness, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure colleagues are supervised, trained and supported — with a strong focus on safe, consistent practice.
  • Set clear expectations and provide coaching and challenge to maintain high standards

Partnership Working, MDTs & System Influence

  • Build and maintain trusted working relationships with Local Authorities, ICB/NHS services, Social Workers, CHC teams and Commissioners.
  • Attend and contribute to MDTs, representing the service confidently and ensuring plans reflect people’s needs and outcomes.
  • Understand different commissioning expectations, pressures and frameworks — and respond professionally, transparently and proactively.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration to support stability, placement success and safe transitions.

Quality, Governance & Compliance

  • Maintain oversight of quality assurance, audits and compliance in line with CQC standards and best practice.
  • Ensure robust care planning, risk assessment, safeguarding and incident management processes are in place and followed.
  • Promote and embed good practice in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and least restrictive approaches.
  • Maintain awareness of restrictive practice/restraint guidance and ensure teams are trained, supported and operating safely and legally.

Service Oversight & Operational Management

  • Provide leadership oversight across staffing, scheduling and service delivery, ensuring operational stability.
  • Lead recruitment and retention approaches that build strong, values-led teams.
  • Manage budgets effectively, balancing resources with high-quality outcomes.
  • Work closely with the Operations Manager, Quality Leads and central support teams to drive performance and improvement.

Co-production

  • Lead or support sensitive and complex conversations with families and others important to the person, especially during change.
  • Manage expectations with compassion and clarity, ensuring decisions remain person-centred and outcome-focused.
  • Promote genuine co-production: involving people, families and professionals in shaping support in a way that respects rights, choice and control.

    Additional Information

You will be required to register with the CQC as the Registered Manager. Full support will be provided to achieve this within 6 months.

    About You

We’re looking for an inspiring leader who will champion the rights, choices and wellbeing of the people we support — and who can work confidently with partners to raise standards and improve outcomes.

    You will have:

    • Significant experience supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism, including complex needs and/or behaviours that challenge.
    • A strong track record of leading and developing teams across more than one site/service.
    • Solid understanding of CQC requirements, governance, safeguarding and quality assurance.
    • Confidence working with commissioners and professionals, including contributing to MDTs and navigating different commissioning expectations.
    • Experience leading difficult conversations with families and supporting change with empathy and clarity.
    • Knowledge of PBS and a strong commitment to least restrictive practice (training/qualification in PBS is desirable).
    • A Level 4/5 qualification in Health & Social Care (or working towards), or equivalent experience.
    • Strong organisational skills, decision-making and financial awareness.

    What We Offer

    • Competitive salary
    • Annual leave: 33 days (inclusive of bank holidays)
    • Mileage: 45p per mile for travel between services
    • Wellbeing Support: Employee Assistance Programme
    • Development: Leadership training, professional qualifications, and progression pathways
    • Recognition: Long service awards, Above & Beyond awards, Birthday voucher & annual Christmas bonus
    • Culture: A truly values-led, employee-owned organisation where your voice matters
